cricket ball speed test
Click the button below to measure your cricket bowling speed. For best results, have someone record your delivery from the side. This simulator demonstrates how radar guns use the Doppler effect to calculate bowling speed.
Note: This is a simulation. For actual speed measurement, upload a video or use specialized equipment.
How cricket ball speed test tool Works
The Doppler Effect
When a radar gun emits radio waves at a specific frequency, the ball's movement changes the frequency of the reflected waves:
- As the ball approaches, waves are compressed (higher frequency)
- As the ball moves away, waves are stretched (lower frequency)
Speed Calculation
The speed is calculated using the Doppler shift formula:
Where:
- v = ball speed (m/s)
- Δf = frequency shift (Hz)
- c = speed of light (~3×10⁸ m/s)
- f₀ = emitted frequency (24.125 GHz)
- θ = angle between ball movement and radar (0° in our case)
Simplified Calculation
For cricket radar guns (θ ≈ 0°):
Example: A 1000 Hz shift ≈ 44.7 km/h
Radar Technology
Professional radar guns:
- Use K-band (24 GHz) or Ka-band (34 GHz) radar
- Measure speed within ±1% accuracy
- Can track speeds from 30-200 km/h
How It Works
Video Analysis Method
Our advanced algorithm analyzes video footage to calculate bowling speed:
- Record your delivery from the side (about 10-15 meters from the pitch)
- Upload the video to our system
- Mark reference points (crease to crease distance)
- Our system tracks the ball and calculates speed
Real-time Radar Method
When using professional equipment:
- Set up the radar gun behind the bowler or at the pitch
- Bowl normally toward the target
- The radar measures speed as the ball passes
- Instant results displayed on screen
Accurate Measurements
Get precise speed readings within ±2 km/h accuracy
Video Analysis
Upload your bowling videos for detailed analysis
Progress Tracking
Monitor your speed improvements over time
